Satsang [2004]

By 2004, Aradhna had toured all over the world, including such remote spots as Guyana and Suriname, and well known, but distant, locations like South Africa.

It was time for a live album, and we chose England, where it all began in 1999. Our friend from the BBC, an expert sound engineer named Simon Parnall, recorded three concerts in London, Gatwick, and Southampton.

Originally we planned to combine the best songs from the three. Instead, we got what can only be described as a miracle. The first two performances had a few serious acoustic flaws related to the venues and were unusable.

Everything hinged on the final night, and flight tickets back to America were booked for the next day. Over half way through the performance, a little three year old girl wandered over to the wall and unplugged the power to the recording machine, losing everything!

After some prayer and discussion, we asked the audience to consider staying. Many remained, and we all let go of our inhibitions and fears and just worshipped. The result was Satsang, a word in Hindi that is used to describe an evening of devotional song that often extends to the early hours of the morning. Literally, satsang means "gathering of truth." This is adoration - unedited, uncontrived, unabashed.
